The Judgment
Great abundance. Great progress and success.
Classical (Legge)Ta Yu indicates that, (under the circumstances which it implies), there will be great progress and success.
The Image
Fire above heaven. Da You. One who is centered curbs what is evil and honors what is good, in sympathy with heaven's way.
Classical (Legge)(The trigram for) heaven and (that of) fire above it form Ta Yu. The superior man, in accordance with this, represses what is evil and gives distinction to what is good, in sympathy with the excellent Heaven-conferred (nature).
The Changing Lines
No contact with what is harmful. No error. Recognize the difficulty of the position, and there is no error to the end.
Classical (Legge)He has no intercourse with what is harmful, and there is no error. Let him realise the difficulty (of his position), and there will be no error (to the end).
A large wagon with its load. Advance in any direction brings no error.
Classical (Legge)A large wagon with its load. In whatever direction advance is made, there will be no error.
A prince presents offerings to the Son of Heaven. A small person could not bear such a duty.
Classical (Legge)A prince presents his offerings to the Son of Heaven. A small man would be unequal (to such a duty).
Great resources kept under restraint. No error.
Classical (Legge)He keeps his great resources under restraint. There will be no error.
Sincerity is met with sincerity from all sides. Display proper majesty. Good fortune.
Classical (Legge)His sincerity is reciprocated by all the others. Let him display a proper majesty, and there will be good fortune.
Blessed by heaven. Good fortune. Advantage in every respect.
Classical (Legge)He is blessed by Heaven. There will be good fortune; advantage in every respect.
